Offer Description

A call is open for the attribution of a Research Grant within the scope of the project Testing Kerr's hypothesis with gravitational waves and lensing, PTDC/FIS-AST/3041/2020, with financial support from the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia/ MCTES, through national funds, in the following conditions:



1. Scientific Area: Physics and Mathematics

 

2. Financing Source: Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P./MCTES, through national funds (PIDDAC)

 

3. Admission requirements: Masters in Physics, Physical Engineering, Technological Physics Engineering, Mathematics or other related master's degrees (enrolled in doctoral programs or non-academic courses integrated in the educational project of the University of Aveiro).

Proof of enrollment must be completed until the contract is signed, and the candidate may attach a declaration of commitment to honor that he/she meets the requirements for enrollment in a doctorate (or in a course that does not confer an academic degree). If the qualification has been conferred by a foreign higher education institution, it will have to be recognized by a Portuguese higher education institution, under the terms of article 25 of Decree-Law no. 66/2018, of 16 August, which approves the regime legal recognition of academic degrees and diplomas of Higher Education, awarded by foreign higher education institutions, and Article 4(2)(e) of Decree-Law No. 60/2018, of August 3, owing any formalities established therein have been fulfilled by the date of the contracting act.

 

4. Eligibility: Candidates who comply with the provisions of paragraph a) of paragraph 1 of article 2 of the Research Fellowship Statute, in the wording given by Decree-Law no. 123/2019, of August 28, and also paragraphs 1 (and 2) of article 6 and article 9 of the Regulation for Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology. The ID(s) awarded to graduates or masters who are enrolled in courses that do not confer an academic degree can only be awarded to those who do not exceed, with the conclusion of the scholarship contract in question, including possible renewals, a period accumulative period of two years in this type of scholarship, consecutive or interpolated, under the terms of number 5 of article 6 of the aforementioned Regulation.



5. Work plan: Integrate the work of the project Testing Kerr's hypothesis with gravitational waves and lensing.



6. Applicable legislation and regulations: Statute of Scientific Research Fellows, as amended by Decree-Law No. 123/2019, of August 28; Regulation n. Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16 (Legal regime for the recognition of academic degrees and higher education diplomas awarded by foreign higher education institutions).



7. Workplace: The work will be carried out at the Center for Research and Development in Mathematics and Applications, of the Mathematics Department of the University of Aveiro, under the scientific supervision of Doctor Carlos Alberto Ruivo Herdeiro .......... .................................................................. ..........

8. Duration of the scholarship(s): The scholarship will last for 5 months, starting on July 1, 2023, possibly renewable up to the maximum limit of the approved funding, under no circumstances exceeding the defined limits in paragraphs 3 and 4 of article 6 of Regulation no. 950/2019, of November 29, published in Diário da República, no. , I.P.).



9. Value of the monthly maintenance subsidy: The amount of the scholarship corresponds to €1,199.64, according to the table of values ​​of monthly maintenance subsidy, set out in Annex I of Regulation no. 950/2019, amount subject to applicable updates, pursuant to paragraph 2, article 18, of Regulation no. 950/2019, of 29 November, published in Diário da República, no. 241, 2nd Series, of 16 December ( Regulation of FCT Research Grants, I.P.). The scholarship holder may also be reimbursed for the amount corresponding to the Voluntary Social Security, in case of adhesion to this regime.

10. Selection methods: The selection methods to be used will be the following: Curriculum evaluation with weight of 100%.



11. Composition of the Selection Jury: President of the Jury: Carlos A. R. Herdeiro (Dep. Mat. U. Aveiro); Effective Members: Eugen Radu (Dep. Mat. U. Aveiro) and Miguel Zilhão (Dep. Mat. U. Aveiro). Deputy Members: Pedro Cunha (Dep. Mat. U. Aveiro) and António A. P. Morais (Dep. Fis. U. Aveiro).



12. Application deadline and form of submission of applications: The competition is open from the 11th to the 25th of May 2023, with only applications within the established deadline being accepted. Applications must be formalized, obligatorily, by sending an application letter accompanied by the following documents: Curriculum Vitae, two letters of recommendation and Certificate of Qualifications (from the master's degree). You must also indicate the e-mail address to which, through this indication, you agree to be notified for all purposes within the scope of this procedure. Applications must be sent by email to herdeiro@ua.pt.



13. Publication/notification of results: The final results of the evaluation will be publicized through a list ordered by the final grade obtained, posted on the University's website, within a maximum period of 90 working days after the final date of application submission, and the candidate (a) approved notified via email, with a period of 10 working days being set for the purpose of prior hearing of interested parties, provided for in the Code of Administrative Procedure. At the end of the period set for hearing the interested parties and, in case of absence of any response from them, the ranked list of candidates will become definitive. Applicants may lodge a complaint within a period of 15 working days against the final decision, or an appeal to the highest executive body of the financing entity within a period of 30 working days after notification of the final decision, in accordance with the provisions of article 12 of the Regulation of Research Grants from the Foundation for Science and Technology.



14. Validity of the competition: The final ranking list of candidates will be valid until 12/31/2023, for the purposes of constituting a selection reserve list.
