Offer Description

Project Description

The I-CHANGE (Individual Change of HAbits Needed for Green European transition,

https://ichange-project.eu) project faces the challenge of engaging and promoting the active participation of citizens for addressing climate change, sustainable development and environmental protection in the framework of the European Green Deal, the European Climate Pact and the European Biodiversity Strategy for 2030. The overall driving concept is that citizens and civil society have a central role in the definition of environmental protection and climate action and their direct involvement is essential to drive a true shift and promotion of changes of behaviors towards more sustainable patterns. I-CHANGE represents a change of paradigm achievable through a multi-disciplinary and participatory approach: improvement of data usability - citizen awareness raises through the observation of the environmental impacts of human activities; active participation of citizens - the active involvement of citizens through a set of Living Labs (LLs) located in different socio-economic contexts; climate change awareness – the development of clear understanding for citizens of the scientific processes underlying climate change and environmental protections. Besides the UB team, the Consortium of the project includes teams from Italy, Ireland, Belgium, Netherlands, Great Britain, Israel and Burkina Faso. The UB team has a strong collaboration with the Cartographic and Geologic Institute of Catalonia to improve remote sensing products through citizen science.

Offer Description

  • Responsibility of all the tasks developed in the project in collaboration with the Cartographic and Geologic Institute of Catalonia to improve remote sensing products through citizen science.
  • Development of the tasks related with extreme temperatures and heat waves in the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB) in WP1 “Knowledge synthesis on climate change and sustainable behaviors”, WP2 “Living lab setup and management” and WP3 “Enhancing monitoring opportunities through citizen science”.
  • Responsible of the network of the I-CHANGE low-cost sensors installed by UB in AMB and meteotrackers, and their application through citizen science to compare with remote sensing imagery.
  • Participation in some project meetings and scientific divulgation.
  • Interdisciplinary work.
  • Participation, as a minimum, in one international congress per year.
  • Publication, as a minimum, of two papers in Q1 journals.
  • Possible development of the PhD on Meteorology
