The HR Excellence in Research Award is granted to research performing organisations that abide by the 20 principles of the European Charter for Researchers.
Research careers in Europe are fragmented at local, regional, national or sectoral level, not allowing Europe to make the most of its scientific potential. The European Charter ensures researchers can enjoy the same rights and obligations in any European country.
As of May 15, 2018, it is not possible anymore to formally endorse the European Charter for Researchers (formerly Charter & Code) with the European Commission without at the same time formally committing to its implementation.
Organizations wishing to formally declare their endorsement of the European Charter for Researchers to the European Commission must also begin the application process for the "HR Excellence in Research award," which reflects a sustained commitment to the implementation of the principles of the Charter.

They will provide the necessary information and the practical steps for the HR award process of implementation of the European Charter for Researchers. The organizations still working on their internal reviews under the 40 principles of the Charter & Code will find for reference the old guidelines at this link.
