Sweden - 23 PhD positions in Synchrotron methods and applications within the PRISMAS MSCA COFUND Programme

PRISMAS – PhD Research and Innovation in Synchrotron Methods and Applications in Sweden – is a new doctoral programme training the next generation of leading synchrotron experts.

In this second call, the programme will train 23 PhD students in advanced synchrotron methodologies and techniques and their application in tackling current and future societal challenges. It is committed to educating fellows with outstanding capabilities who will carry forward new insights and experiences to society and their research fields.

PRISMAS includes an on-site secondment at the large-scale research facility and synchrotron MAX IV in Lund, Sweden.

PRISMAS aims to attract curious and motivated PhD candidates to support them in becoming next generation of synchrotron experts.

The PRISMAS Programme has two Recruitment Calls. In this second call, the positions are distributed along the following areas:

  • healthy planet
  • healthy people
  • clean energy
  • sustainable technologies
  • accelerator science

Who is eligible

To be eligible for a PRISMAS research project, you must meet the applicant criteria below.

• Comply with the MSCA mobility rule. Applicants of all nationalities are eligible​. However, you may not apply if you have resided or carried out your main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Sweden for more than 12 months during the below mentioned period, unless as part of a procedure for obtaining refugee status under the Geneva Convention.

• Be a doctoral candidateApplicants cannot already be in possession of a doctoral degree at the deadline of the PRISMAS programme’s call. 

• Hold a university degree. The general entry requirements are a completed second cycle degree or completed courses worth at least 240 ECTS credits (of which at least 60 credits in the second cycle). This includes physics, engineering, chemistry, or other topics defined in the specific description for each position. 

• Be available for employment. Being able to attend at the set start date of the PRISMAS programme.

For individual research projects, more specific eligibility criteria could apply.

When applying for a PRISMAS position, candidates should choose one or more research projects and further develop them with their future supervisors. This individual-driven mobility is a characteristic of the PRISMAS selection process.
