France - South America: MATH-AmSud, STIC-AmSud and CLIMAT-AmSud calls open

AmSud 2024

The regional programmes MATH-AmSudSTIC-AmSud and CLIMAT-AmSud are initiatives of the French cooperation (French Ministry for Foreign Affairs) and counterparts from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela, aimed to promote and strengthen the collaboration and to foster the creation of networks of research and development in the fields of:

  • mathematics (MATH-AmSud), 
  • Information and Communication Science and Technology (STIC-AmSud),
  • and climate variability and change (CLIMAT-AmSud) 

for the realisation joint projects through the mobility of investigators.

Note that Ecuador and Venezuela are only participating in MATH-AmSud and STIC-AmSud but are not participating in CLIMAT-AmSud.

Eligible participants:

  • The following categories are entitled to apply: researchers from research units and laboratories (public or private) linked to higher education institutions, research organisations or companies.

  • Each project must associate at least one French research group and at least two South American countries participating respectively in the programmes STIC, MATH or CLIMAT AmSud. However, the development of regional research projects with three or more countries in the region associated with the program will be highly valued at the time of project evaluation.

  • For those who have already participated in an AmSud project, it is recommended to be very careful with incompatibilities such as: the national coordinators, as well as the international coordinator, who have been part of projects financed by the program, they can only present a new project, as long as the final report of the previous one has been approved.

Projects

Each project will have a duration of two years.

  • Only missions of 30 days or less will be funded.
  • The recommended minimum duration of missions is 7 days.
  • There must be at least one mobility from France to South America and from South America to France during the project.

How to submit:

The International Coordinator must send a version .pdf in English of the proposal through the application platform, including the CVs of the proposed participants.

  • Argentinian researchers interested in submitting projects should contact the Sofia Mormandi at Secretaría de Innovación, Ciencia y Tecnología to find out the country's funding conditions for this call.
  • Brazilian researchers must submit their project in parallel to CAPES.
  • Chilean researchers interested in submitting projects must submit them to CONICYT at the time the national call is openedwww.conicyt.cl/pci.
  • Colombian researchers who apply for funding from MINCIENCIAS must be recognised in one of the four categories of researcher (junior, senior, emeritus or associate).
  • Peruvian researchers must register on the corresponding application platform in the PROCIENCIA - CONCYTEC portal: http://www.fondecyt.gob.pe/ by the deadline.
  • Uruguayan researchers must have their CV in CVUy format, (CVuy platform https://cvuy.anii.org.uy/), updated at the time of the closing date of the call.
  • Paraguayan researchers can find details of the national call for projects on the CONACYT website: (www.conacyt.gov.py/).
