UNIGOU EXCHANGE PROGRAMME OF ACADEMIC INTERNSHIPS
UNIGOU Exchange Programme provides Brazilian university students with the opportunity to join scientific departments at Czech universities and to engage in a selected research topic fitting their specialisation and interest, during two-month stays, under a supervision of a local researcher(s). The programme allows participants to extend their knowledge and gain new experience in an international environment. It leads to personal and professional development and a broadening of horizons. All the participating students are encouraged to immerse themselves in a new environment, to go beyond assigned tasks, to meet and to improve their professional and personal network of contacts.
The UNIGOU Exchange Programme has been tailored to Brazilian undergraduate, masters, and doctoral students who aim to improve their scientific and professional skills within an international environment. The participants of the programme actively join the ongoing activities of the hosting university or research centre in the Czech Republic for a period of 2 months.
The main points of the UNIGOU Exchange Programme are:
- internship lasting 2 months
- participating in selected research topic following personal interests of the student
- communication solely in English language
- interaction with academic members and students in the Czech Republic.
Who is eligible
The candidate should have:
- 18+ years old
- English fluency
- Meeting specific requirements according to the selected topic of interest of the Academic Internship
- Regular enrolment at a home university certified by MEC in an undergraduate, master or doctoral programme
- Having completed at least 2 years of the undergraduate programme at the home university
- Interest and motivation to commit to the Programme UNIGOU Exchange for 2 months
- Reliability, responsibility and an ability to perform on tasks independently, in an international environment
What is offered
- 2-month long Academic Training at some of the most prestigious Czech research institutions
- Possibility to engage in a selected research topic under the supervision of local researchers
- Assistance for accommodation registration in the university dormitories (personal choice of each UNIGOU participant – see page 10 for more details)
- Access to the university restaurants with discounted meals
- Access to the university facilities such as libraries, study and computer rooms, and other common student areas
- Public Transportation Pass for unlimited access to public transportation in the city where the UNIGOU Programme takes place
- Certificate of Completion of the UNIGOU Exchange Programme
- Final evaluation/recommendation letter from the research topic supervisor.
What is not offered
The Czech Republic is considered affordable, as common expenses in the country are generally lower than in the rest of Europe. When participating in the UNIGOU Programme, students should be prepared for the following expenses:
- Flight tickets and other travelling related expenses
- Health insurance
- Institutional Fee of 1,350 Euros / 1,480 Euros (depending on the selected programme period, see the next page for more information; the Fee already covers selection process, registration at the university and unlimited access to the public transportation system)
- Accommodation: Brazilian students participating in UNIGOU Exchange Programme will have the possibility to be accommodated at the university dormitories, which are subsidized by the Czech government and much more affordable than the housing market. However, even if reduced, it will be up to the student to cover the accommodation expenses; - The expenses related to accommodation for a period of the two months typically range from 300 to 650 Euros (for the whole period), depending on the dormitories and the city of the Academic Training (see page 10 for more details).
- Alimentation (about 3 Euros per meal in the university restaurants): - The Brazilian students participating in UNIGOU Exchange Programme will have access to university restaurants, subsidized by the Czech government, in which the price of meal is considerably reduced. However, even if reduced, it will be up to the student to cover the food expenses.
