Reference LA/P/0053/2020

The Administration Board of the Instituto Português de Oncologia do Porto Francisco Gentil, EPE (IPO Porto) opens a call for hiring one (1) technician for bibliometrics management and scientific dissemination with a Master degree, according to the Applicable Regulation, under unfixed-term contract for up to 24 months or until the end of the project, funded through LA/P/0053/2020.The position will be integrated in the Direção do Centro de Investigação do IPO Porto (CI-IPOP).

1. Profile of the candidate:  

Any national, foreign, and stateless candidate(s) that hold the following requirements can apply:

Obligatory:

• MSc in Oncology or Biomedical/Life Sciences/Cancer Biology or similar fields up to 8 years;
• Documented expertise in the area of Oncology;
• Documented experience in collaboration in event organization for scientific dissemination;
• Documented experience in scientific communication;
• Experience with reference management software and platforms such as Endnote, Scopus, and Web of Science;
• Experience with software for data management and analysis, such as Excel, R and SPSS;
• Experience in scientific illustration;
• Experience in training/lecturing for undergraduate students;
• Experience in training/lecturing for community outreach;
• Involvement in scientific outreach activities;
• English proficiency (oral and written);
• Motivation to work in an interactive and collaborative environment;
• Organized, able to prioritize and accomplish deadlines;
• Driven to fulfill the goals of the CI-IPOP.

Preferential:

• Involvement in the organization and participation of CI-IPOP activities.

Note: In the event the MSc degree was awarded by a foreigner higher education institution, the degree must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law nr 66/2018, of 18^th August, and all formalities established there must be fulfilled by applications deadline.

    2. Regulation:

• Portuguese Labor Law, approved by Law nr 7/2009, of 12^th February in its current writing.

    3. Members of the Jury:

The jury is composed by: Prof. Carmen Jerónimo (who chairs), PhD; Prof Rui Henrique, MD, PhD; Prof. João Santos,MD PhD

Substitute elements: Prof. Lúcio Lara Santos, MD, PhD and Prof. Maria José Bento, MD

    4. Start Date and workplace:

The contract is expected to start 1^st of March 2024 and for (24) twenty four months or until the expected execution date of the project. The activities will be developed mainly at IPO-Porto.

    5. Monthly remuneration: 

Gross monthly remuneration is 1385.35€.

    6. Application process:

Note: The non-compliance with these requirements will determine immediate rejection of application.

    7. Evaluation criteria:

The admitted applications will be evaluated considering the candidates' academic or professional qualifications, professional career, relevance of the experience and training and the type of duties carried out in accordance with the profile described above.

The jury will analyze the application documents according to the following criteria:

A. Curriculum evaluation (60%):

1. Experience that supports the requirements for the position (20%).

2. Experience with different software and platforms mentioned above (15%)

3. Participation in scientific outreach activities (15%)

4. Research activities in which the candidate was involved (10%);

B. Motivation letter (40%):

1. Interest and motivation in the scientific outreach and scientific data management relevant to the position (25%);

2. Fluency in English (5%);

3. Experience in scientific writing (10%).

After the evaluation of all admitted applications, the jury will write a meeting minute with all process of recruitment, evaluation, and selection, including an ordered list of approved candidates and the final decision of the jury. The final decision of the jury shall be validated by the Head of the Institution, who is also in charge of deciding about the hiring.

      8. Results:

Both admitted and excluded candidates list and final classification list shall be posted at IPO Porto and all candidates will be notified by email.

     9. Preliminary hearing and final decision deadline:

Pursuant to article 121 of the Administrative Procedure Code, after notified, all candidates have 10 working days to respond. Panel’s final decisions are pronounced within a period of 90 days, from application deadline.
