Senior Research Group Leader Positions

edin_uni

The Wellcome Centre for Cell Biology (WCB) is a world-renowned research centre in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Edinburgh. Located in the vibrant city of Edinburgh, the WCB’s mission is to make ground-breaking discoveries that bridge the knowledge gap between genotype and cellular phenotype in health and disease. The Centre has an outstanding track record in discovering fundamental molecular and cellular mechanisms that underlie nuclear organisation, genome packaging and transmission, chromatin states and their interplay with RNA biology. The WCB offers a diverse and inclusive environment that fosters interaction and collaboration. We are equipped with state-of-the art facilities and instrumentation for molecular and cellular biological research, including core support in microscopy, bioinformatics, proteomics and structural biology.

The WCB is seeking outstanding established scientists for independent research group leader positions at senior levels. Successful candidates will have an impressive track record and a compelling vision for independent research in the broad area of cell and molecular biology. Although research excellence is our primary criterion, we particularly encourage applicants with expertise in RNA biology, developmental systems, or with demonstrable links to medicine or the physical sciences.

For more information about the WCB see: www.wcb.ed.ac.uk.

Informal enquiries are welcome to David Tollervey (Centre Director) or Adele Marston (Deputy Director) via e-mail: admin.wcb@ed.ac.uk

To apply, please send a CV, a 2 page research proposal and the names of three academic referees to admin.wcb@ed.ac.uk.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: 31 March 2019

The WCB is committed to equality and diversity. The School of Biological Sciences currently holds an Athena Swan silver award.
