SPIN-ERC: a two-year support scheme to prepare ERC submissions at Ca'Foscari University, Italy

With the purpose of promoting impact research and strengthening its attractiveness for the best international researchers, Ca’ Foscari University is investing its own resources on a new initiative: SPIN - Supporting Principal INvestigators. The scope of the call is to receive proposals to fund research projects with a maximum duration of 24 months in all scientific areas available at Ca’ Foscari. SPIN-ERC addresses post-doc researchers – holding or not an academic position at Ca’ Foscari - who meet the excellence requirements to submit a research project proposal under the ERC Starting, Consolidator, or Advanced grant calls with Ca’ Foscari as Host Institution.

Through the SPIN funding you will receive support to design your ERC project proposal with Ca’ Foscari as Host Institution, meet the programme’s excellence requirements and strengthen your academic profile. Ca’ Foscari is the top Host Institution for Marie Curie individual fellowships in Italy and in the top 10 in Europe.

How much you can receive:

  • Fellowship: €2.400 net per month (€40.000 /year gross)

  • Project with no lab costs : max €120.000 (including fellowship)

  • Project with purchase of scientific equipment: max €160.000 (including fellowship)

Applications will be evaluated in two steps: at step 1 a Committee appointed by the Rector will assess the development potential of the proposals; during the second stage external referees will evaluate selected proposals taking into account the project scientific excellence and the applicant's profile.

The shortlisted researchers will be engaged on a research contract after passing positively an interview focused on the impact and sustainability of the proposal.
