Researchers' Night on Sustainable Urbanisation
Join us for an afternoon of networking and discussion about Sustainable Urbanisation held at the Chinese Academy of Urban Planning and Design. EURAXESS European Research Day event this year will be dedicated to celebrating the 5 year anniversary of EU-China Cooperation in Sustainable Urbanisation.
In addition to being an opportunity to network and meet new contacts from the community of researchers in Beijing there will also be an interesting panel discussion for young researchers involved in research on urbanisation, a poster competition to introduce best projects dedicated to urbanisation as well as introduction to funding opportunities for researchers in this field.
The event will start at 17:30 at the main campus of CAUPD and immediately follows the 2017 China-EU Conference on Sustainable Urbanisation that will be taking place that day. For those interested in the conference, please check out more information here.

Back and forth conversation of the topics of their research subjects, their main impressions of the conference, the possibilities of Sino-European cooperation in the field of urbanization, the biggest challenges of current day urbanization and finally the future of cities. |

ALI CHESHMEZHANGI
Ali Cheshmehzangi is an Associate Professor in Architecture and Built Environment, Faculty of Science and Engineering at University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) and founder of Founder Director of INURR (International Network for Urban and Rural Reseach). In recent years, he has worked on eco- and smart- city research projects in EU and China, low-carbon town planning projects in China, urban modelling of residential neighbourhoods and studies related to green infrastructure of cities particularly in the context of developing countries. Ali’s research interests are in the fields of urban design and planning, exploring themes of ‘Sustainable Urbanism’, ‘Urban Regeneration’, ‘Urban Housing and blocks’ and ‘Integrated Urban Design’.

JOEY ZHOUYUAN LI
Dr. Joey Zhouyuan Li, the WIMEK Fellow at Wageningen University and Research in Netherlands, and the Adjunct Researcher at ColorfulClouds Tech Company in Beijing, China. He works on the satellite imagery data mining and environmental modeling, currently being responsible for the NWO VENI Initiatives on the sustainability issues of the global urbanizing deltas.

ELENA KILINA
Elena Kilina is a Phd fellow in Brazilian university Unicamp. Her research is about public places in Shanghai and Sao Paulo in terms of rapid urbanization and gentrification.

YIJIAN XU
Yijian Xu, Ph.D., associate professor, the Chief Scientist of Urban Water & Infrastructure Institute, China Academy of Urban Planning & Design. His main research fields are connected to the various facades of urbanization in relations to sustainability, including water management, climate change and low-carbon ecocities.He has been in charge of or participated in more than 30 scientific research projects and plannings at national, provincial and city level.

FABIEN PFAENDER
Fabien Pfaender, PhD (2009) is data scientist and data exploration researcher. His research focuses on exploring urban systems using quantitative methods and interdisciplinary cooperation with data analysis as a common language. The research put with a strong emphasis on gathering city data, visualizing and modeling urban systems and involving all city's stakeholders through participative urban science.
Since 2011 he is working for Sorbonne University (UTC) between France and Shanghai where he is coordinating and developing ComplexCity lab. He is leading an international workgroup to develop urban data exploration and mining strategy for interdisciplinary scientist. He is also visualization and data science expert for various Big Data and Smart Cities related companies in France and in China. Since 2016 he is chair of UNESCO International Complex Systems Digital Campus (CS-DC) e-lab Urban Complex Systems (UCS).

CYRIL DOUTRE
Mr Doutre works for the Nice Metropolis Promotion & International Affairs Department Head of the Asian Office. He has a Master of Political Science with a major in international relations & languages as well as a Master of Public Administration with a major in local policies and foreign exchanges. He also studied a bit of Chinese at Beijing Foreign Studies University. Mr Doutre has been involved in about 85 projects led from 2011 in Nice with Chinese and about 30 projects with « Niçois » in China | |

ANDREA STŘELCOVÁ
Andrea Střelcová is currently a researcher working at ESSCA School of Management, focusing on migration of skilled talents. Between 2013 and 2016 she was the EURAXESS China representative managing the China office of the EU programme. With professional experience over six years in China in the areas of higher education, research and innovation, she gained experience working in consulting and e-commerce private sphere as well as EU Delegation in China. Ms. Střelcová obtained her Master’s degree at the London School of Economics, and lives in Beijing. |
