EURAXESS Australia & New Zealand brings to you a webinar on PhD opportunities through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). Join us to hear from two fellows who will share their experience, tips & advice! 

Background

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions support researchers at all stages of their careers, regardless of age and nationality. Researchers working across all disciplines are eligible for funding. The MSCA also support cooperation between industry and academia and innovative training to enhance employability and career development.

MSCA funding for PhD students is offered within university partnerships called Innovative Training Networks (ITN)/Doctoral Networks (DN) or COFUND schemes.

  • Dr. Jenny Lind Elmaco is the Regional Coordinator of the European Research Action Service (EURAXESS) - an initiative of the European Commission- handling the ASEAN region. She is a recipient of both the prestigious Erasmus Mundus scholarship and Marie Curie fellowship of the European Union. She has 3 Masters degrees : in peace and security from the University of Innsbruck, in Global Studies  from the University of Leipzig and Vienna and an MBA with a specialization in Big Data and Business Intelligence from EAE Madrid and Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. She earned her PhD in Peace and International Development with the highest honors (sobresaliente cum laude) from the  Cátedra UNESCO de Filosofía para la Paz, Universidad Jaume in Spain. She has been part of several research groups including the Research Group on European Civil Society and Multi-level Governance at the University of Muenster, the European Research Center for Information Systems, the Non Profit Team at the Vienna School of Business and Economics and the Studies on Intermediality and Intercultural Mediation of Universidad Complutense in Madrid, among others. She received the global Marie Curie Alumni Association Social Impact Award recently for her work in peace and security, gender and humanitarian response.

  • Madison Ainsworth is currently a PhD candidate at the University Medical Center, Utrecht, in the Netherlands. She is partially funded by the MSCA cofund project, RESCUE (www.uu.nl/en/research/rescue-cofund) along with 29 other international candidates. Her research focuses on advanced 3D printing and regenerative medicine strategies for orthopaedic tissue engineering (www.maldalab.org). Previously, Madison attained a Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Australia and a Double Masters Degree in Biofabrication from QUT (Australia)/Utrecht University (Netherlands). Madison grew up in Queensland, but has now been living in Utrecht, the Netherlands, for 3 years completing her studies. Her interests include travel, cooking and volleyball.
