29 Positions for MCSA-Postdoctoral Fellowship at DKFZ

The DKFZ German Cancer Research Center offers 29 positions to apply for the MSCA-Postdoctoral Fellowship, Call 2024. Projects are available in all areas of cancer research and are located in Heidelberg, Dresden, Mainz and Munich in Germany.

The cancer research areas include:

▶ Cell and molecular biology
▶ Epidemiology
▶ Imaging and radio oncology
▶ Machine learning and artificial intelligence
▶ Medical physics
▶ Multi-omics
▶ Structural biology

The DKFZ helps you and provides a comprehensive support package to increase the success chances of the candidates (DKFZ Marie Curie MasterClasses), which includes for candidates selected by DKFZ Principal Investigators:

-  3 online workshops between June and July 2024 on how to plan and write a successful proposal
-  1 to 1 feedback and consultation with experienced grants experts

Benefits:

Eligible candidates:

  1. Need to hold a PhD degree (thesis must be defended before September 11, 2024).
  2. Must have a maximum of 8 years of postdoctoral research experience from the date of defense of PhD and until September 11, 2024. Career breaks (parental leave, military service, work outside research, etc.) do not count towards the amount of research experience.
  3. Must not have resided or worked in Germany for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before September 11, 2024.

Selection criteria:

  1. Excellent track record according to the career stage: at least one first author publication (or shared-first authorship) in Q1 journal is required.
  2. International experience: research stays abroad, participation in international collaborative projects, oral presentations in international conferences, etc.
  3. Experience leading scientific projects. For example, holder of young investigator research grants, (co)supervision of undergraduate students and PhD candidates, etc.  
  4. Expertise in the research area and relevant techniques.
  5. Experience in science communication, dissemination and exploitation activities is beneficial.
