Post-doc Position in Nanomechanics & Surface Physics - Vienna, Austria

The group of Prof. Silvan Schmid at the Institute of Sensor and Actuator Systems invites applications for a 3-year postdoc position in the field of optomechanics and surface physics.



This project with the title “surface physics of ultrahigh-Q silicon nitride resonators” is a collaboration with the Spin Physics Group at ETH Zurich in Switzerland.

Your profile:

For this highly interdisciplinary project we are looking for a motivated experienced researcher fulfilling some of these requirements:

  • PhD or comparable degree in physics, material science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or in a related subject

  • Experience with ultrahigh vacuum systems

  • Expertise in surface physics or surface chemistry

  • Experience in nanomechanics and optomechanics

  • Experience in cleanroom fabrication

  • Solid written and oral communication skills in English
