Description
A hosting offer for the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2023 call is available at Soft & Active Materials Laboratory, directed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Erkan Senses at Koç University in Istanbul, Turkey. The core of the postdoctoral research will be related to the PI’s project EXTREME which investigated the structure and dynamics of lipid bilayers (model cell membranes) in hydrogel media (model extracellular microenvironments). Unlike the previous works investigating these systems in the quiescent, this postdoctoral research will focus on liposome-hydrogels’ behavior under a dynamic shear environment mimicking physiological conditions. This work’s results will help to design novel shear-triggered drug delivery systems.
Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the research, applicants with PhD degree in polymer science, applied physics, biomedical engineering, chemistry, materials science, or a related field are encouraged to apply. The work is mostly experimental; candidates with previous experience in hydrogel synthesis and characterization, liposome preparation, rheological characterization, x-ray and neutron scattering, spectroscopy, confocal, and electron microscopy will be given priority. The successful candidate is also expected to write competitive proposals to obtain beamtimes in the advanced synchrotron and neutron facilities, perform experiments and analyze/interpret the results.
Applicants should send their resumes to Dr. Erkan Senses, esenses@ku.edu.tr, and give (online) a 30-minute presentation describing their Ph.D. research experience and future career plan.
