Description

Ulster University, Northern Ireland (supervisor: Dr Mark Ng) would like to host a postdoc under the MSCA Global Fellowship for 2–3 years. The postdoc will be seconded to Monash University, Malaysia (supervisor: Assoc. Prof. B L Lan) for 12–24 months, before returning to Ulster for the last 12 months.

The postdoc is expected to work on the following problem:

Title: Early warning for epileptic seizure

Complex dynamical systems can shift abruptly from a stable state to an alternative stable state at a tipping point. As the tipping point is approached, the state of the system becomes increasingly similar or flickers back and forth near the alternative stable states. Which of these dynamics occurs before the brain transitions into epileptic seizure is still an open question.
