Description
The Palacký University in Olomouc, Department of Asian Studies invites postdoctoral researchers who wish to develop their research on Myanmar or a Southeast Asian or global topic of relevance to Myanmar.
We focus on what role the EU can play in the Indo-Pacific and through which policies and partnerships it can contribute to maintaining peace and stability while promoting its key values of human rights and democracy and safeguarding its strategic autonomy in international politics. Post-coup Myanmar is a place where these values are at risk.
Besides conducting research on Myanmar and more broadly the Indo-Pacific region, we also envision, the establishment of a Myanmar Centre. We want to connect academia with politics and the civil society in Czechia and other Central and Eastern European countries.
Successful applicants will benefit from:
• contact with the Myanmar diaspora and students (coming to Olomouc through Erasmus+),
• contact with Czech and European political circles, and
• research tools, such as the rich dataset stemming from the Sinophone Borderlands Survey (see: www.sinofon.cz/surveys)
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Potential candidates need to have held a doctoral degree (Ph.D) for no longer than 8 years and have not resided in the Czech Republic for more than 12 months during the last 3 years, at the time of the deadline.
