Description

ibs.GRANADA, research institute managed by the Public Foundation for Biosanitary Research of Eastern Andalusia - Alejandro Otero (FIBAO), welcomes postdoctoral researchers with an excellent track record to apply to the European Commission Marie Sklodowska-Curie (MSCA) Postodoctoral Felloships.

ibs.GRANADA, research institute managed by the Public Foundation for Biosanitary Research of
Eastern Andalusia - Alejandro Otero (FIBAO), consists in the collaboration between the
University of Granada and the University Hospitals of Granada, reference centers of the
Andalusian Public Health System of the province of Granada (Andalucia), both for Primary Care
and Hospital Care.
The Andalusian Public Health System (APHS) is responsible for the provision of healthcare to all
the population of Andalusia with 8.4 millions inhabitans. Its main purpose is to provide highquality
public healthcare to the citizens of the region, ensuring its accessibility and the
satisfaction of its users, and seeking efficency and optimum use of resources.
70 research groups cover 4 areas of expertise at iBS.Granada
https://www.ibsgranada.es/en/lista-grupos-de-investigacion/ :
- Oncology Area
- Epidemiology and Public Health Area
- Precision Medicine Area
- Advanced Therapies and Biomedical Technologies Area
The Department of Fetal Medicine, in the Obstetric and Gynecology Service of the Hospital
Universitario Clínico San Cecilio, is composed of professionals from various branches of women´s
health. This group of over 100 professionals works in a coordinated and collaborative manner,
pursuing a common goal: women's sexual and reproductive health. We have magnificent
facilities and technology that is in line with the current social environment and the technological
advancements we have experienced in recent years (constantly adapting to this scientifictechnical
evolution).

The secondment group is part of the Instituto de Investigación Biosanitaria (IBS) Granada,
specifically the TEC12-Maternal Fetal Health and Elastography research group, focused on
Advanced Therapies and Biometric Technologies. This translational research team is made up of
more than 20 members, including physicians, basic scientists and bioengineers. In the last five
years, the group has obtained public and private funding for 15 research projects related to the
development of new technological products, preterm birth, pre-eclampsia and other obstetric
pathologies. In addition, the group is affiliated to the Spanish Biomechanics Research Network
and holds four patents for biomedical procedures and devices.
Since 2018, the team has published more than 40 articles in international journals, with an hindex
of 58 in 10 years. They have supervised more than 30 PhD theses and secured more than
58 national and international projects, obtaining funding of more than €25 million. More
statistics on the group are available on request from IBS.
In addition, the group is affiliated to the research group of the Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF),
a UK registered charity.

Over the last decade, this foundation has conducted 14 clinical trials in which our group has
participated and has played a key role in the development and implementation of screening and
prevention strategies for pre-eclampsia in the healthcare system, as evidenced by the ASPRE
trial (Project #601852) funded through FP7-HEALTH-2013-INNOVATION-2, HEALTH.2013.0-1.
The group has also participated in the FMF-sponsored clinical trial in twin pregnancies, "Early
vaginal progesterone for the prevention of spontaneous preterm birth in twins: A randomised,
placebo controlled, double-blinded trial. EVENTS (ISRCTN66445401; EudraCT Number 2015-
005180-16)" and is currently recruiting patients in the clinical trial "ASPRE-T: Aspirin versus
placebo in twin pregnancies for preeclampsia prevention: a multicenter, randomised, doubleblind,
placebo-controlled trial (EudraCT Number: 2019-003341-15)".

The priority lines of research are:
- Maternal-Fetal Health: integrated by sub-lines on Fetal Medicine, endocrine disruption,
maternal-fetal health and women's health.
- Elastography: epidemiology and prevention of preterm birth. The group's challenge focuses on
understanding and diagnosing the change in tissue microarchitecture of the cervix during
gestation and delivery.

The team works in a reference centre in southern Spain specialising in pregnancy-related
complications. The researchers bring a wealth of experience, and the team's combination of
clinical and technical competence makes them well suited to welcome researchers interested in
the developing lines of research.
Description Principal Investigator: Dr. Francisca Sonia Molina García (ORCID: 0000-0001-9190-
5654). Her research activities focus on fetal medicine.

The candidate researcher is requested:
- Basic training: Medicine, Health Sciences, Biomedicine.
- Advanced training: PhD in Health Sciences, advanced knowledge of languages (English),
scientific writing, advanced knowledge of statistics applied to health sciences (Biomedicine).
- Other: interest in the integration and development of the projects in development of the group
of secondment as well as in health during pregnancy and women's health.
