Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) ranks among the most lethal cancers globally. The incidence has followed a similar trend across EU-27 countries, exhibiting stability in men, and a notable increase, particularly in women, as observed in countries like France. Consequently, NSCLC is incorporated into one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) endorsed by the United Nations. Despite the development of new therapies, treatment resistances are emerging, partly linked to the role of cells present in the tumor microenvironment. Thus, tumor-associated stromal cells (TASC), such as endothelial cells and peripheral nerve cells, may promote tumoral processes. Nevertheless, the communication mechanisms between nerve cells, endothelial cells, and cancer cells remain largely unknown particularly in lung cancer context. The project OncoNeuroEndo-miR (ONE-miR) suggests that (i) these different cell types communicate via miRNAs, (ii) these miRNAs are involved in cells physiology regulation and (iii) contribute to the development of anticancer agents’ resistance.
