Description

Call for Expression of Interest for a joint application under the upcoming Call for MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2024

University of Genoa, UNIGE, located in Genoa, ITALY, welcomes postdoctoral researchers of any nationality, with an excellent track record, to apply to the European Commission Marie Sklodowska-Curie (MSCA) Postodoctoral Felloships 2024. Our University has been beneficiary of several MSCA-PF in Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe.

The Marie Sklodowska Curie (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowship is one of funding scheme of the European Commission’s Horizon Europe Research & Innovation programme, dedicated to excellent research promoting international mobility, as well as interdisciplinary and intersectoral exchanges.

MSCA fellowship grant provides a competitive salary plus mobility and family allowances if applicable, as well as a contribution to cover research, training and networking costs. The research projects will have 2- or 3-years duration.

Selected candidates will be provided with special support for proposal writing and development.

The University of Genoa will organize in May the fifth edition of the Masterclass MSCA@UniGe. Selectedcandidate researchers will have the opportunity to attend a 2-days online intensive training and coaching course on how to write a successful proposal. This masterclass is a pathway of support to candidates and their supervisors in preparing project proposal, including  prescreening activity of the draft proposals and the organisation of dedicated B2B meetings, by the European Research Office of UniGe, National Contact Point and other experts.

The masterclass will take place on 28th and 29th May2024.

Research Group

The group is part of the Measurement and Biomechanics lab, inside the Department of Mechanical, Energy, Management and Transportation Engineering (DIME) and operates on research topics involving system identification, vibrations, biomechanics and structural dynamics fields. We have strong collaborations with research centres and companies working on related themes in Italy and abroad. The strength of the Lab is its multidisciplinary nature: mechanical, biomedical and environmental related topics are studied and the continuous exchange among the researchers always leads to new and stimulating research paths. The glue and the basis of this lab is its vision: almost any system can be somehow seen as a dynamic system, whether we are talking about a human being, the sea, the wind or a mechanical structure. This philosophy led to the creation of a Lab whose main goal is system identification and characterisation. Currently, within this macro-area, the research divides into the following main research branches: vibration attenuation and isolation, biomechanics and human-structure interaction, and sea state monitoring. The environment is dynamic and stimulating with a strong experimental calling.

Research Project Description

Modelling of the human forces and effects on structures to the aim of estimating vertical and transverse induced vibrations. The activity involves the development of both analytical and experimental-based human/crowd models; the development of simulation strategies, in both time and frequency domain, for the estimation of the vibration of the coupled system (i.e., structure + person/people), and for the estimation of its dynamic parameters and their uncertainty.
