Outline
The PhD in Chemical Sciences is open to Candidates having an Italian Graduation Degree of 2nd level (Laurea, Laurea Specialistica, Master) or to those having an equivalent Graduation (typically a Master Degree) obtained abroad. The main objective of the Doctorate in Chemical Sciences is to form highly qualified research doctors in several advanced fired of the chemical sciences, including Smart Sensors, Innovative Technologies for the environment maintenance and preservation, micro and non technologies, new functional materials, biomaterials. During the three years of Doctorate, the student has a supervisor, who will follow him through the educational route in order to stimulate and enhance his/her capacity to tackle a research trend critically and independently, providing hypothesis and protocols to solve scientific issues, from a theoretical or experimental standpoint. In this educational path a special focus is dedicated to the critical reading of the scientific literature and to work out the ability to write a scientific paper. For this, to be able to comunicate in English, both written and spoken, is considered a mandatory requisite doe the PhD students. A non hexaustive list of research fields developed in our PhD (it is possible to browse the links heading to department site for further information): Chemical Sensors Biosensors and DNA nanomachines Organic and Organometallic Chemistry Engineered porphyrines hydrogen transfer reactions via oxigen radical reactions Nanostructured materials Biomaterials and functional materials Macromolecules For the numerous international collaborations, the students are strongly encouraged to carry out part of the their doctorate with research groups of other Italian or foreigner Universities. In order to consolidate the background theoretical knowledge necessary for the scientific research, the PhD Course provides a teaching activity on general topics as well as on specific ones consisting in the attendance to series of seminars, conferences and full immersion monographic courses. |
