About

Outline

This PhD will explore the synthesis of new small molecules containing Lewis acidic and basic sites for metal-free catalysis.

This research project will illustrate new design strategies to synthesise ambiphilic molecules that contain both electrophilic (Lewis acidic) and nucleophilic (Lewis basic) sites that may be employed as catalysts in catalytic hydrogenation, dehydrocoupling, cyclisation, hydrosilylation, hydroboration and carbon dioxide utilisation reactions.

These new routes will offer a modular design to develop main group catalysts that should surpass the activity of those previously reported.
