About
Outline:
The “Integrated Perspectives on Biodiversity and Climate Change” workshop aims to (1) broaden our knowledge of Amazonian socio-ecological challenges from a multi-disciplinary perspective (2) co-develop sustainable solutions for such pressing socio-environmental challenges in Amazonia, and (3) promote the development of collaborative networks, capacity building and knowledge exchange between local and international scientists, early-career researchers and local practitioners (ERCLPs). The workshop is funded by The British Council as part of the International Science Partnership Fund in association with the Amazonia+10 partners in Brazil.
What is funded:
The workshop is aimed at supporting early-career researchers in academia (not-yet in a permanent role) and relevant (non-)governmental sectors working in both the UK and Brazil who represent a range of research backgrounds including (but not limited to) anthropology, sociology, geography, ecology, conservation, engineering, climate and environmental sciences. Participants will have travel and subsistence expenses covered.
Duration:
16–18 July, 2024
Belém, Pará, Brazil
Eligibility:
The funder – the British Council - has some restrictions on eligibility, including:
- Early career status which we categorise as post-viva but not yet holding a permanent academic position.
- Scholars based in the UK or Brazil (although can be of any nationality).
- A research focus on Amazonia and environmental issues (broadly defined).
Applicants should apply via a short online form (https://forms.gle/NaHGLNL6cY8ho3nz7).
