A tender is hereby opened for the award of two Research Grants (RG) in the scope of project “Skills 4 Pós-COVID - Competências para o futuro no Ensino Superior”, code POCH-02-53I2-FSE-000029, coordinated by the Teaching and Learning Center of the Rector’s Office, under the following conditions:

1. Scientific Area: Mathematics and related areas.

2. Funding Source:European Social Fund (ESF) through the program “Programa Operacional Capital Humano”.

3. Admission Requirements:

Graduates or Masters in Mathematics, Computing or related areas with a strong background in Mathematics or programming, enrolled in courses at the University of Aveiro.

The proof of enrolment must be made available until the contract is awarded, and the candidate may attach a declaration of honor to confirm that they meet the requirements for enrolment in an integrated master's degree, master's, PhD or non-degree course.

If the qualification has been conferred by a foreign higher education institution it must be recognized by a Portuguese higher education institution, under the terms of the provisions of article 25 of Decree-Law no. 66/2018, of August 16th, which approves the legal regime of recognition of academic degrees and diplomas of Higher Education, attributed by foreign higher education institutions, and of paragraph e) of no. 2 of article 4 of Decree-Law no. 60/2018, of August 3rd, and any formalities established therein must be fulfilled by the date of the hiring act.

4. Eligibility: Applicants are eligible if they comply with paragraph a) of no.1 of article 2, of the Research Fellow Statute as amended by Decree-Law no. 123/2019, of August 28th, as well as article 9 of the Research Grant Regulations of the University of Aveiro.

5.Work plan: The candidates will develop their work in the context of the activity aimed at supporting the production of pedagogical resources. The main activities to be carried out within the framework of the scholarship are:

-Development of exercise models for integration into a computer platform.

-Creation of concept maps, with aggregation and prerequisite relationships, for use in an intelligent tutor.

-Video research and creation of new videos on Calculus and Pre-Calculus topics.

6. Applicable legislation and regulations: Statute of Scientific Research Grant Holder, as amended by Decree-Law no. 123/2019, of August 28th; Regulation of Scientific Research Grants of the University of Aveiro, Regulation no. 292/2020, published in Diário da República no. 61, 2nd Series, of March 26; Decree-Law no. 66/2018, of August 16th (Legal regime for recognition of academic degrees and diplomas of higher education awarded by foreign higher education institutions).

7. Workplace: The work will be carried out at the Mathematics Department of the University of Aveiro, under the scientific supervision of Professora Doutora Maria Paula Lopes dos Reis Carvalho.

8. Duration of the grants: The duration will be five months, starting in July 2023, possibly renewable for additional periods, up to the maximum limit of the approved funding, under no circumstances exceeding the limits defined in paragraphs 5 and 6 of article 9 of Regulation no. 292/2020, of 28 February, published in Diário da República, no. 61, 2nd Series, of 26 March (Regulation of Scientific Research Scholarships of the University of Aveiro).

9. Value of the monthly maintenance allowance: The amount of the scholarship corresponds to €1,199.64, according to the table of monthly maintenance subsidy values, set out in Annex III of the Regulation of Scientific Research Scholarships of the University of Aveiro, amount subject to updates that may occur and that are applicable. The grant holder may also be reimbursed for the amount corresponding to the Voluntary Social Security, in case of adherence to this plan.

10. Selection methods: The selection methods to be used will be the following: curriculum evaluation (70%), interview (30%).

11. Composition of the Selection Jury: President: Maria Paula Lopes dos Reis Carvalho, Assistant Professor. Members: Luís António Arsénio Descalço, Assistant Professor; Manuel António Gonçalves Martins, Associate Professor. Alternate Members: Maria Paula de Sousa Oliveira, Assistant Professor; Rute Correia Lemos, Assistant Professor.

12. Application deadline and how to submit of applications: The call is open from the 8th to the 23th of June 2023, with only applications within the established deadline being accepted.

Applications must be formalized by sending a letter of application accompanied by the following documents: Curriculum Vitae, certificate of qualifications, declaration of honor and other supporting documents considered relevant. They shall also indicate the e-mail address to which by such indication they accept to be notified for all purposes within this procedure.

Applications should be sent by e-mail to Paula Carvalho (paula.carvalho@ua.pt) having as subject the grant reference.

13. Method of publication/notification of results: The results of the evaluation are published within a maximum period of 60 working days from the deadline for submitting applications, by notifying the candidates. Candidates are informed, at a prior hearing, under the terms enshrined in the Code of Administrative Procedure, of the draft decision of the final decision, and may, within 10 working days of this notification, pronounce on this decision. The final results may be appealed to the Rector, within 10 working days of the respective notification.

14. Tender duration: The final ranking list of candidates will be valid for up to 60 days, for the purposes of constituting a selection reserve list.
