Offer Description
DATALOG (datalog.es) is a project of data governance with the goal to stablish the first Data Trust in Europe related to urban services, utilities and mobility. This project is looking for a pasionate professional seeking to contribute to a data-driven project for commong good.
The tasks required to complete by the position are associated with the DATALOG project. These are to plan and design the integration of different (georeferenced) datasets, implement a server to create microservices associated with the data. In addition, the person filling the position will be responsible for the protection of privacy and anonymization of the data. The first phase will require the person to set up a server with geo-referenced data (the data is from open data sources and from donations of utilities companies). The second phase will require the candidate to analyze and generate data models through data mining processes to develop algorithms. The candidate should implement the necessary connectivity to a publicly available website or dashboard. Since DATALOG is an urban data trust, the candidate will implement a website that will inform citizens about data related to the city of Barcelona, including georeferenced information and diverse data visualizations.
Main research field: GeoInformatics.
The duration of these tasks is estimated for a period of 7 months.

- A master degree (or in development) in data science, geospatial technologies, data mining , geostatistics or similar.
- Professional experience in data management and server management, including Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Postgres and PostGIS databases.
- Demonstrated experience in designing experiments with georeferenced data, including gathering, integrating and analyzing data, data mining, data visualization and data privacy procedures.
- Publications in the area of geographic information systems or related topics is a plus.
- Required languages skills in professional capacities for English and Spanish (Catalan is a plus)
- The expected start date is June 1st, 2023, the job is in Barcelona, and Nie and a work permit is required.
Additional Information
The selection of the candidates will be made through evaluation of the curriculum and, where appropriate, with the carrying out a test and/or interview. Valuation will be as follows:
- Criteria (0-70 points)
- Demonstrable professional experience in industry using geographical information systems +30
- Demonstrable professional experience in developing data mining models +20
- Data-driven empirical research orientation, including experience in analyzing large data sets. +20
- Merits (0-30 points)
- Holds a master degree in one of the competitive areas +10
- Programming skills for developing web services +10
- Knowledge on project management methods and experience +10
The minimum score to pass the selection process is 70 points. The candidate with the highest score in the selection process will be offered the job and in case of resignation, the position will be awarded to the next person in order of score obtained.
