Offer Description
The Department of Water, Atmosphere and Environment, Institute of Soil Physics and Rural Water Management is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate.
Extent of employment: 40 hours per week
Duration of employment: 1st of June 2023, limited to 6 years
Workplace: 1190 Vienna, Muthgasse 18
Gross monthly salary and pay grade in terms of collective agreement for university staff (payable 14 times per year): B1 lit.b € 4.351,90
Responsibilities:
- The applicant's research focus on modelling water flow and transport in soils and sediments. It should also have strong synergies to the existing expertise at the institute
- Teaching duties include courses in numerical modelling of water and mass fluxes as well as general modelling courses in rural water management
- The applicant is expected to develop own research ideas, acquire external funding and coordinate projects
- Publication and presentation of scientific results
- Supervision and mentoring of undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students
- Participation in the institute's administrative tasks
- Further academic qualification (habilitation) should be pursued
Required skills and qualification:
- Doctoral degree and excellent master's degree in geosciences, environmental scienes, environmental engineering, rural water management or similar disciplines
- Experience in the application and development of numerical models
- Strong publication record
- High motivation for working independently and for working in an interdisciplinary research and teaching environment
- Very good knowledge of English, both written and spoken
Desired skills and qualification:
- Teaching experience
- Successful application of external funding projects
- Involvement in the scientific community
- Knowledge of German is an advantage
- Experience with geographic information systems, statics or time series analysis
- Interest in field and laboratory experiments
- Driver's license (B)
