Offer Description
To strengthen our team, we are looking for a graduate student (f/m/d) to complete a PhD in economics at the chair of the Center Director Prof. Panu Poutvaara, Ph.D. at the University of Munich and to work on research projects on Ukrainian refugees.
Our team analyzes migration and integration, with special focus on the role of institutions. Currently, the team is analyzing return plans and economic and social integration of Ukrainian refugees in Germany. Join us in this task!

Your area of responsibility
- You conduct research on integration and return migration plans of Ukrainian refugees in Germany. The research is conducted by two ifo Centers (International Institutional Comparisons and Migration Research; Center for Social Market Economy and Institutional Economics).
- You will complete a PhD in economics at the chair of Center Director Prof. Panu Poutvaara, Ph.D. at the University of Munich (LMU).
- You will participate in the structured doctoral student training program run by the Munich Graduate School of Economics (MGSE) of the LMU.

- You have a strong master’s degree in economics.
- You have sound knowledge of the foundations of economics and relevant empirical methods
- With excellent English language skills, both written and spoken, you are able to interact confidently in the international network of researchers.
- You have very good skills in Ukrainian, ideally as native speaker or speaking Ukrainian as second language.
- Knowledge of the German language is a big advantage.
- You are a team player who values professional exchange with your colleagues and likes to take responsibility for yourself and others.
