Offer Description

As a full-Stack Software developer, you will join a young and dynamic team of software engineers with strong and diverse technical skills. You will carry on the analysis, design, implementation, test and deployment of web applications crucial for safety at CERN.

In this role, you will:

  • Participate to the requirement gathering and the solution architecture;
  • Develop web-application's back-end features based on Java and Spring Boot;
  • Develop web-application's front-end features based on ReactJS;
  • Configure and use CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab, Openshift, Docker...);
  • Work in close collaboration with end-users;
  • Contribute to the existing documentation.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to receive training to improve your technical knowledge in technologies required for the development.

We expect you to be eager for problem solving, be self-managed, enthusiastic about new technologies and be open to collaborate.

Skills/Qualifications

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State;
  • You have a Master’s degree and between 2 and 6 years’ experience or PhD with up to 3 years of relevant experience in Software Engineering or other related field;
  • You should have a working knowledge of English or French.

Skills and/or knowledge:

  • Software engineering. 
  • Some of these technologies: Java, Spring Boot, JavaScript, ReactJS, Oracle, CI/CD ( Gitlab, Openshift, Docker).

What we offer: 

  • An employment contract of in principle 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months;
  • On-the-job and formal training at CERN as well as in-house language courses for English and/or French;
  • A monthly stipend ranging between 6050 and 6650 Swiss Francs per month (net of tax);
  • Coverage by CERN’s comprehensive health scheme (for yourself, your spouse and children), and membership of the CERN Pension Fund;
  • Depending on your individual circumstances: installation grant; family, child and infant allowances; payment of travel expenses at the beginning and end of contract;
  • 30 days of paid leave per year.
