Offer Description
The successful candidate shall:
• Teach one or more academic subjects, lead the assigned courses
• Conduct term exams.
• Provide consultations on the subjects taught.
• Develop and teach academic subjects in the teams he/she participates in accordance with the requirements of the curriculum and syllabi.
• Lead the teaching teams of the academic subjects he/she is responsible for.
• Fulfil his/her teaching norm in accordance with the approved normative for auditorium and outside the auditorium occupation of the lecturers at the University.
• Provide scientific guidance on diploma theses and prepare reviews of diploma theses.
• Participate in commissions for diploma theses defence.
• Provide scientific guidance in the preparation of PhD students.
• Develop study materials and academic guidance.
• Conduct research and publish findings.
• Participate in the preparation of state exams.
The Associate Professor will teach the following subjects:
- Hydrology
Climatology and hydrology
Ecological hydrology
Ocean georgraphy
Requirements
The candidate for this position is:
- Fluent in Bulgarian language.
- Holder of a diploma for a Master's degree, recognised in Bulgaria - the academic recognition should be done through the National Centre for Information and Documentation (https://nacid.bg/bg/).
- Holder of a PhD degree (diploma for "Doctor of Science" - if such), recognised in Bulgaria - the academic recognition should be done through the National Centre for Information and Documentation (https://nacid.bg/bg/).
Additional Information
Paid annual leave: 48 working days
Candidates shall submit an application form* accompanied by the following documents:

- Diploma of Higher Education and the appendix to it.
- Diploma for educational and science degree “Doctor”.
- Diploma for the science degree “Doctor of Sciences”, if the candidate has one.
- Document for scientific title or academic position.
- Certificate of work experience in the specialty.
- Documents, proving fulfilment of the requirements of Art.105, (par.1, item 2) of the Rules on the conditions and procedure for acquiring scientific degrees and holding academic positions at Sofia University ("Rules") -certificated by employer, project manager, funding organisation, or assignor of a project or references and reviews, awards and other relevant evidence.
- Medical certificate.
- Certificate of criminal record, certifying the lack of imposed punishment “deprivation of the right to practice a certain profession or activity.
- List of publications, inventions and other scientific-applied results – in three copies:
- list of all publications
- list of the publications, submitted for the participation in the competition.
- List of publications, conferences, projects and scientific manuals, generated by the Authors system– in cases when the candidate already holds an academic position at Sofia University.
- Information according to a template for fulfilment of the minimum national requirements for the respective scientific area and the additional requirements of Sofia University to which the necessary evidence is attached.
- Information on the citations with full bibliographic description of the cited and the citing publications.
- Information on the original scientific contributions, to which the respective evidence is attached.
- Information on the indicators under Art. 112, par. 2 of the Rules with appropriate evidence (with inventory and appendices).
- Scientific papers submitted for participation in the competition, structured and numbered according to the list under item 10b above.
- Summaries of reviewed publications in Bulgarian and in one of the languages traditionally used in the relevant scientific area.
- Copy of the announcement in the State Gazette.
The position “Associate Professor” shall be occupied by persons who:
- Have acquired educational or scientific degree “doctor”
- For not less than two years:
- have held an academic position Assistant Professor/Chief Assistant Professor, or
- have been full-time or part-time lecturer or a member of a research team at Sofia University or in another higher school or scientific organization, or
- have practiced creative work in the field of the recent competition, or
- have been practitioner with proven accomplishments in the field
- Have presented a published monographic work or equivalent publications in specialised scientific journals or evidence of equal relevant creative achievements in the field of arts which do not repeat the presented for the acquisition of the degree "PhD" and for the acquisition of the degree "Doctor of Science".
- Meet the minimum national requirements for the relevant scientific field and/or professional field and the additional requirements of Sofia University
- Have no proven plagiarism in the scientific works in accordance with the relevant law.
- All documents shall be submitted in Bulgarian language or in their original accompanied by a translation into Bulgarian language in one original in hard copy and 6 copies in PDF format on digital media to Sofia University St. Kl. Ohridski, Personnel Department, Room 2, 15 Tsar Osvoboditel Blvd.,1504 Sofia, or by post to same address.
