Offer Description
We are seeking a highly motivated technician to support and assist in the operation and services of the Fish Platform of the Champalimaud Foundation. The selected candidate will join a dynamic and detail-oriented team with a strong team spirit.
Dues and responsibilities of the appointed candidate include:
- Maintenance of recirculating housing systems for different freshwater fish species and related equipment
- Measurement of water quality parameters and adoption of corrective measures if applicable
- Preparation and maintenance of live feed cultures
- Carry out crosses, housings and embryo care of wild type, mutant and transgenic fish
- Close monitor and care of larval rearing
- Perform basic fish health checks
- Other tasks relevant for the maintenance and development of high scientific and animal welfare standards of the Fish Platform of the Champalimaud Foundation

Requirements
Preferential selection criteria:
- Experience in recirculating aquaculture systems
- Personal animal experimentation license
- Prior work in a research environment
Mandatory selection criteria:
- Candidates must hold a Bachelor degree in Life Sciences
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong teamwork skills
This is a full time position requiring ability to to prioritize efficiently and multitask, without compromising attention to detail and record keeping. Postholder will be asked to work within an on-call rota and to adjust daily duties according to the needs of the Platform. The ideal candidate will be organized, responsible, committed and a team worker. Strong logical skills are also required.

Selection Method:
Initial selection methods shall be as follows: curriculum (60%) and motivation letter (40%). Top candidates might be called for interviews, and evaluations from references will be considered, as well as their perceived fit and potential contribution to the Fish Platform.
