RECTOR OF THE UNIVERSITY OF SILESIA IN KATOWICE announces the open call for the position of Assistant Professor in the group of research-teaching staff

Applications to the open call may be submitted by those who meet the conditions specified in Section 113 of the Act – Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (i.e., Journal of Law 2021 item 478, as amended)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- conducting scientific research necessary for the development of chemical sciences in the scope of application of nanomaterials in the non-organic analytics, research of absorption processes and creation and validation of analytical procedures,
- teaching classes in the 1st cycle and 2nd cycle studies for the degree programmes: Chemistry, Chemical Technology,
- realization of organizational duties in accordance with the Individual Scope of Duties.
- developing of the research subject in the scope of analytical chemistry with the use of mass spectrometry, atomic spectrometry and X-ray spectrometry techniques,
- publishing the research results in the journals, especially scoring w 100 points and more according to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education’s list,
- popularization of research results and participation in scientific conferences in the country and abroad,
- participation in research projects financed from external sources in the candidate’s country or/and from foreign sources and/or undertaking activities aimed at acquiring projects.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- minimum PhD degree in chemical sciences,
- experience in conducting research in the discipline of chemical sciences in the area of analytical chemistry,
- recent scientific achievements in the discipline of chemical sciences indexed in Scopus or Web of Science databases, especially in the scope of trace inorganic analysis, absorption processes in nanomaterials and removing metal ions,
- experience in realization of research projects/grants,
- documented history of applying for the financing of research in the institutions in the country or abroad,
- documented scientific internship in the candidate’s country or abroad,
- knowledge of research methods including atomic emission spectrometry and X-ray spectrometry,
- ability to operate the equipment including atomic emission spectrometers and X-ray spectrometers with energy dispersion and the full reflection of radiation,
- experience in laboratory work,
- holding presentations at the national and/or international conferences,
- command of English that allows for teaching classes,
- command of Polish that allows for conducting classes or readiness to learn Polish (in the case of foreign candidates),
- readiness to teach classes using atomic emission spectrometry and X-ray spectrometry.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- experience in conducting classes in the higher education institution, including using remote teaching tools,
- computer skills in terms of MS Office, Statistica, Origin, Matlab,
- presentation of letters of recommendation,
- openness for research and didactic mobility,
- readiness to work in a research team,
- readiness to share one’s knowledge and experience with others.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
The conditions necessary for the recruitment of the candidate selected in the selection proceedings are the fulfilment of the obligations arising from Section 265(4), (5), (13) of the Act – Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (i.e., Journal of Law 2020 item 85, as amended).
In the case of applying for employment at the University of Silesia in Katowice as the primary place of work, candidates employed in other higher education institutions as their primary place of work, should, as of the day of their employment, fulfil the requirement defined in Section 120 of the Act – Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2021, item 478, as amended), according to which an academic may have only one primary place of work at a time.
In the case of candidates whose diplomas on the award of a professional title/scientific degree/scientific title require authentication according to the law in force in the Republic of Poland, employment is possible only after completing the procedure of authentication of the diploma (nostrification).
