Call for one Research Grant (BI) - UP4REHAB

Applicants must have a Master's degree in Environmental Sciences, or a related field, with basic training and interest in the theme of Management and Conservation of Soil and Water Resources.

2) experience in fieldwork: soil sample, erosive processes, plant biomass assessment;

3) experience in laboratory work: soil physical and chemical analysis;

4) data processing;

5) fluency in the Portuguese and English languages;

6) enrolled in a Ph.D. program in an area of interest to the project or in a non-degree course at a higher education institution.

The amount of the grant corresponds to € 1.144,64 €, according to the table of values of the grants awarded by FCT, I.P. in the country. The fellow will also benefit from a personal accident insurance, and if not included in any social security protocol, may adhere to the Portuguese Social Security through the Seguro Social Voluntário (Voluntary Social Security), in the terms present in the Portuguese Código dos Regimes Contributivos do Sistema Previdencial de Segurança Social. The monthly salary will be payed monthly by bank transfer.

The criteria for evaluation of the applications will be:

a) Quality of the CV, including, among other elements, the grades obtained throughout the academic path and its adequacy to the project in question (40%);

b) Experience in (i) data processing and geographic information systems; (ii) field and laboratory work on the themes indicated above (40%);

c) Interview (20%) – the candidates with the best scores in the above assessment components may be invited to an interview with the jury, in which aspects related to performance in the required elements of work experience will be valued. Preference will be given to candidates with interest and motivation in carrying out their doctoral thesis within the scope of the objectives, guidelines and tasks defined in this public notice.

The jury will be composed by Felícia Fonseca (President of the Jury), Tomás Figueiredo, José Cortez, and Paula Baptista (substitute).

The communications and the final results of the evaluation will be disclosed by email notification to the candidates.

If the decision to be taken is unfavourable to the granting of the requested scholarship, the candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the date of publication of the evaluation results, to express their opinion, if desired, in a prior hearing, under the terms provided for in the Code of the Administrative Procedure.

Documents proving the ownership of academic degrees or diplomas, or enrollment in an academic degree or diploma, may be dispensed with during the application stage, being replaced by a declaration of honor by the candidate, although substantiation of this condition is mandatory during the grant contracting stage.

Academic degrees obtained in foreign countries require recognition by a Portuguese Institution in accordance with Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16th and Ordinance No. 33/2019, of January 25th. The presentation of the recognition is mandatory for the signing of the contract.
