The University of Cologne is one of the largest and most research-intensive universities in Germany, offering a wide range of subjects. With its six faculties and its interfaculty centres, it offers a broad spectrum of scientific disciplines and internationally outstanding profile areas, supported by.

Our graduate school, the research training group 2550 (grk2550.uni-koeln.de) aims at understanding how the astonishing adaptability of biological systems can be achieved by dynamic protein relocalization. Our interdisciplinary group from the fields of chemistry, biochemistry and biology characterizes the mechanisms underlying the dynamic regulation of protein localization and the physiological conditions that drive it. The research training group provides structured training for German and international doctoral candidates, who are selected according to the criteria of an outstanding academic profile.

They will employ unbiased -omics approaches to generalize their findings and will develop novel tools to modulate relocalization processes.

YOUR PROFILE
• The research training group is aimed at doctoral candidates with a background in molecular biology, biochemistry, molecular medicine and biological/organic chemistry

WE OFFER YOU
• Our doctoral candidates can build on the complementary expertise present in the consortium, on excellent state-of-the-art core facilities and the thriving highly interactive scientific environment in Cologne
• The candidates will expand their scientific horizon through participation in an interactive tailor-made educational program that covers broad principles, and specific scientific and career development needs
• A diverse and fair working environment
