The Executive Board of INESC-ID approved an international selection call for 1 (one) fixed-term work contract for a a Research Engineer, under the following conditions:

 

 

OBJECTIVES | FUNCTIONS

Development of interactive applications that promote interaction between people and intelligent agents

The tasks include defining the system's technical and interaction requirements, programming and testing.

Coordination of the development team if it includes other elements, such as master's students.

Support in the use of applications developed in scientific studies.

Preparation of the necessary tools for its application and configuration, and technical support when carrying out tests with people.

Support in creating elements for communicating results. Includes help in producing graphic elements, images and videos, and description of the system and its application in studies. Helps in collecting data that applications collect and analyzing it

DURATION

 

6 (six) months.  Renewal subjected to performance

 

SALARY | MEAL ALLOWANCE | WORKPLACE

 

Salary, prior to any deductions or withholdings – 2 240.74€ (Two thousand two hundred and forty euros and seventy-four cents), working in an exclusive dedication basis.

 

Meal allowance per work day of 6€ (six euros).

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS | SKILLS | QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants for this position are required to possess a Master's degree Computer Science and Engineering. with a focus on interactive systems like games. 

Ability to work collaboratively in a research-intensive environment, with good communication and publication skills

EVALUATION CRITERIA AND EVALUATION PANEL

The selection will be based on the following criteria:

1. Academic record of the candidate (50%)

2. Experience with Game Development and HCI (30%)

3. Experience with Research projects (20%)

 

If an interview is conducted, the punctuation proposed by each member of the evaluation panel is obtained by assigning a weighting factor of 50% to the curriculum vitae and other documentation presented, and a weighting factor of 50% to the interview.

Candidates with an average score below 50 are not recommended for hiring.

Each member of the evaluation panel assigns a classification to each of the candidates on a scale of 0 to 100 points, ranking the candidates according to their classification consisting on the sum of the partial classifications assigned in each evaluation criterion, and considering the weighting factor given to each parameter. In this process abstentions are not allowed.

 

Candidates will be ordered by the successive voting method.

 

If the requirements mentioned above are not fulfilled, the evaluation panel may choose not to select a candidate

 

Minutes of the evaluation panel meeting are drawn up containing a summary of what has taken place in the meeting, as well as the votes cast by each of the members and their reasons, being available to the candidates whenever requested.

 

The final deliberation of the evaluation panel must be approved by Executive Board of INESC-ID.

The application and documents may be submitted in Portuguese or English, although the President of the Jury, and when a member of the Jury is a non-native Portuguese speaker, may request that, within a reasonable time, the candidate translates into English a document previously presented in Portuguese.

For candidates with degrees granted by foreign higher education institutions it is mandatory to have a degree or diploma recognition according to the provisions of Decree-Law no. 66/2018 of 16th of August, (https://www.dges.gov.pt/en/pagina/degree-and-diploma-recognition) and all formalities established therein must be fulfilled, by the selected candidate, until the date of signature of the contract.

 

COMPLAIN AND APPEAL DEADLINES AND PROCEDURES

Candidates who submit their application incorrectly or who do not prove the requirements required in this public notice are excluded from admission. In case of doubt, the evaluation panel may demand any candidate to present documents proving those statements.

 

False statements by the candidates will be punished according to the law.

 

The admitted and excluded candidates will be notified by email of the final ranking list.

 

Prior Hearing and Deadline for Final Decision: After being notified, candidates have 10 working days to submit a formal rebuttal. Within the term of 30 days, counted from the deadline for the presentation of the candidacies, the final decisions of the evaluation panel are given.

 

This call is exclusively intended to fill the vacancy (s) indicated and may be terminated until the homologation of the final ranking list of candidates and expiring with the respective occupation of the working position on offer.
