Offer Description

The Department of Chemistry, Institute of Organic Chemistry is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate.

Extent of employment:         40 hours per week

Duration of employment:      15th of July 2024, limited to 6 years

Workplace: 1190 Vienna, Muthgasse 18

Gross monthly salary and pay grade in terms of collective agreement for university staff (payable 14 times per year): B1 lit. b, € 4.752,30

Responsibilities:

  • Independent research in the field of synthesis of complex oligosaccharides
  • Supervision of BSc-, MSc-, and doctoral students
  • Assuming responsibilityfor analytical and chromatographie equipment (e. g. NMR, LC-MS, HPLC)
  • Teaching in (organic) chemistry
  • Safety responsibility (safety officer) for the chemistry division at the Muthgasse site
  • Active participation in the self-administration of BOKU

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree / PhD in the field of organic chemistry
  • Language skills: English
  • Excellent knowledge of German
  • Sound experience in the field of complex oligosaccaride synthesis
  • Sound teaching experience
  • Commitment to ensuring high safety standards
  • Proofof publication activity
  • Experience in the analysis of complex nuclear magnetic resonance spectra
  • Organizational skills and independence
  • Lecture experience and good presentation skills

Desired skills and qualifications:

  • Experience in the supervision of students
  • Experience in the synthesis of plant oligosaccharides
