The Executive Board of INESC-ID approved an international selection call for 1 (one) uncertain-term work contract for researcher on the scope of project Center for responsible AI Candidature C628696807-00454142, funded by Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) and Next Generation EU European Funds under the following conditions:

 

TASKS

Development of a platform for synchronizing concurrent programs running on GPUs

Support in the administration tasks of the computational infrastructure used in the CRAI project by the INESC-ID DPSS group

DURATION

 

Starting in May, 2024.

Maximum period set for this type of contract – 4 years.

The termination of the project or completion of the tasks that are the subject of this call shall determine the expiration of the contract that will operate with the communication referred to in article 345 (1) of the Código do Trabalho (Labor Code), meaning that the employer shall notify the termination of the contract to the employee, at least 7, 30 or 60 days in advance, according to whether the contract lasted up to six months, six months to two years, or per longer period.

 

SALARY | MEAL ALLOWANCE

 

Salary, prior to any deductions or withholdings – 1915,46€ (One thousand, nine hundred and fifteen euros and forty-six cents), working in an exclusive dedication basis.

 

Meal allowance per work day of 6€ (six euros).

SCIENTIFIC SUPERVISION

The contract activity will be supervised by Professor Paolo Romano, Associate Professor at Instituto Superior Tecnico (IST) and researcher at INESC-ID

The employee will be integrated in the INESC-ID team.

 

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS | Required education Level and research experience

The candidates should have an MsC in computer engineering or computer and electical engineer, or other related areas.

Preference will be given to candidates with suitable scientific and professional curriculum such as:

 

Expertise in CUDA programming, provable via public code repositories (e.g., GitHub)  or publications

Expertise with concurrent programming, ideally via the use of transactions in memory, provably via public code repositories (e.g., GitHub) and/or publications

 

General call admission requirements include those specified in the previous point and that, from the candidate’s curriculum vitae, one may validate the compliance with productivity criteria such as:

Carrying out tasks within the expected deadlines.

Carrying out tests and documentation.

Participation in project publicity actions.

 

Required language skills: proficiency in Portuguese and English, both written and spoken.

 

EVALUATION CRITERIA AND EVALUATION PANEL

The selection will be based on the following criteria:

a) Academic record; [30%]

b) Expertise in CUDA programming, provable via public code repositories (e.g., GitHub) or publications; [40 %]

c) Expertise with concurrent programming, ideally via the use of transactions in memory, provably via public code repositories (e.g., GitHub) and/or publications; [30 %]

 

If an interview is conducted, the classification proposed by each member of the jury is obtained by assigning a weighting factor of 80% to the curriculum vitae and other documentation presented, and a weighting factor of 20% to the interview

Candidates with an average score below 70, are not recommended for hiring

Each member of the evaluation panel assigns a classification to each of the candidates on a scale of 0 to 100 points, ranking the candidates according to their classification consisting on the sum of the partial classifications assigned in each evaluation criterion, and considering the weighting factor given to each parameter. In this process abstentions are not allowed.

 

Candidates will be ordered by the successive voting method.

 

If the requirements mentioned above are not fulfilled, the evaluation panel may choose not to select a candidate

 

Minutes of the evaluation panel meeting are drawn up containing a summary of what has taken place in the meeting, as well as the votes cast by each of the members and their reasons, being available to the candidates whenever requested.

 

The final deliberation of the evaluation panel must be approved by Executive Board of INESC-ID.

The application and documents may be submitted in Portuguese or English, although the President of the Jury, and when a member of the Jury is a non-native Portuguese speaker, may request that, within a reasonable time, the candidate translates into English a document previously presented in Portuguese.

 

In the application submission, the candidates may replace the copy of official academic degree certificate, by a declaration of honor stating that they have the required academic degree.  It is mandatory for the approval and start date of the contract, that the selected candidate present a single copy of the official academic degree certificate, required in the education level.

 

For candidates with degrees granted by foreign higher education institutions it is mandatory to have a degree or diploma recognition according to the provisions of Decree-Law no. 66/2018 of 16th of August, (https://www.dges.gov.pt/en/pagina/degree-and-diploma-recognition) and all formalities established therein must be fulfilled, by the selected candidate, until the date of signature of the contract.

 

 

COMPLAIN AND APPEAL DEADLINES AND PROCEDURES

Candidates who submit their application incorrectly or who do not prove the requirements required in this public notice are excluded from admission. In case of doubt, the evaluation panel may demand any candidate to present documents proving those statements.

 

False statements by the candidates will be punished according to the law.

 

The admitted and excluded candidates will be notified by email of the final ranking list.

 

Prior Hearing and Deadline for Final Decision: After being notified, candidates have 10 working days to submit a formal rebuttal. Within the term of 30 days, counted from the deadline for the presentation of the candidacies, the final decisions of the evaluation panel are given.

 

This call is exclusively intended to fill the vacancy (s) indicated and may be terminated until the homologation of the final ranking list of candidates and expiring with the respective occupation of the working position on offer.
