Offer Description

The Basque Center for Applied Mathematics - BCAM, is looking for a Research Technician position in Computational and Applied Mathematics to join the Mathematical Design, Modelling and Simulations (MATHDES) group, and work under the supervision of Dr. Matteo Croci (https://croci.github.io). This position is funded by a Ramón y Cajal (Atracción de Talento) grant.

We are searching for a promising pre-doctoral researcher who is eager to kickstart their career as a researcher. We especially welcome candidates from under-represented backgrounds.

This is an open-topic multidisciplinary position which can be tailored to the interests of the research technician. Possible topics are:

- Multilevel Monte Carlo methods.

- Uncertainty Quantification.

- Reduced- and mixed-precision computing

- Deep learning methods for partial differential equations.

While the focus of the position will be on developing computational methods and their theory, applications may include biomedical computing and brain fluid simulations for advancing research on neurodegenerative diseases.

The initial contract duration will be of 1 year with ample possibilities for renewal. Our hope is to later on incorporate the research technician within BCAM's doctoral programme, subject to satisfactory performance.
