The Department of Applied Economics at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management is offering a multi-year PhD fellowship in Economics (which can be held either full or part time). The studentship will provide successful candidates with the opportunity to work as part of research project in health/labor economics involving a Randomized Controlled Trial led by Professor Ilan Tojerow.

The grant will start in September 2017 (negotiable) and will aim at a Ph.D. in Economics in the context of the Doctoral School of the Center Emile Bernheim at the ULB (Université libre de Bruxelles, Brussels, Belgium). The grant is part of a joint project with the Public Law Center at the ULB (Vanessa De Greef).

The project will tackle a research question related to employment policies specific to disabled persons. It forms part of a series of ongoing research projects focusing on disability economics at the Department of Applied Economics.

Candidate profile

Applicants should hold an excellent Master degree in economics (or statistics) and have strong research interests in empirical health, labor, and disability economics. Outstanding quantitative skills with experience in statistical programming software (e.g. STATA, R) are essential. They should also show interest in public policy and its evaluation. Fluency in English is required, knowledge in French is a plus.
