University of Wroclaw invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor at the Department of Media Studies at the Institute of Journalism and Social Communication at the Faculty of Letters

The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.

 

The candidate is required to

  1. Hold a doctoral degree in the humanities or social studies.
  2. Scientific achievements in the field of social communication and media studies, confirmed by highly scored publications (according to the current regulations), including in foreign scientific publications and journals.
  3. Experience in obtaining grants and participating in international research projects.
  4. Demonstrate documented professional experience in higher education, teaching experience in the field of teaching in Polish at a university-type higher education institution, in particular in the field of social communication and media (at Bachelor's and Master's level) and readiness to teach them in the future, as well as organisation of teaching work at a university-type higher education institution.
  5. Excellent knowledge of English.
  6. Have a sufficient command of the Polish language to be able to communicate in the academic environment and to participate in comparative studies.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Conducting classes and administrative work related to the implementation and organization of the didactic process in the scope and size provided for the position of assistant professor in accordance with the current internal normative acts of the University of Wrocław.
  2. Performing other tasks and activities related to the implementation and organization of the didactic process indicated by the Head of the Institute of Journalism and Social Communication.
  3. Conducting research in the discipline social communication and media studies, including applying for internal, national and international grants, in accordance with criteria established by the relevant Discipline Council.
  4. Publication of research results with the affiliation of the "University of Wrocław" and their reliable documentation via the IDKS Library.
  5. Active participation in the research and publishing activities of the Institute and its organization (meetings of the Institute, domestic and foreign scientific conferences, editorial work for publications created at IDKS).
  6. Compliance with the provisions of copyright and related rights in teaching, research and creativity.

  3. A photocopy of the diploma certifying the academic degree of doctor, professor.
  4. Statement whether the University of Wroclaw will be the primary place of work in the case of winning the competition (download Workplace Statement).
  5. Declaration of the discipline in which the candidate will conduct research and in the case of people conducting research in more than one discipline the percentage of their involvement in each of these disciplines (download Declaration of scientific discipline).
  6. Self-presentation (information about scientific, organizational, and other achievements).
  7. List of scientific publications in the last ten years.
  8. Electronic versions of the two most important publications that the candidate considers representative of his or her scientific achievements or an explanation of the lack of them.
  9. Application for employment addressed to HM Rector.
  10. A statement in connection with Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018. The Law on Higher Education and Science (download Declaration – Article 113).
