Offer Description

Machine Learning for Quantum (MLQ) offers 10 positions for doctoral researchers. MLQ will develop and apply machine learning techniques for improving our understanding of quantum matter and for advancing quantum technologies towards useful applications, and to exploit quantum technologies for enhancing machine learning algorithms and their performance. The training includes research work between 5 leading EU universities in the field: University of Strasbourg, France (4 positions), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, KIT, Germany (2 positions), University of Padova, Italy (1 position), Eötvös Loránd University, Hungary (1 position), University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy (2 positions). Training is assisted via secondments at the academic and at non-academic partners.

  • Project 1: Machine learning and quantum simulations for quantum state generation

    Host: University of Strasbourg, France

  • Project 2: Machine learning for numerical simulations and quantum state tomography for near-term quantum devices

  • Project 3: Qubit decoherence simulation on a PARSEC machine

  • Project 4: Machine learning interface for the MIMIQ quantum emulator

    Host: University of Strasbourg, France

  • Project 5: Molecular qudits for quantum machine learning

  • Project 9: Quantum algorithms, including quantum machine learning, for the prediction of materials phase equilibria and molecular energies

  • Project 10: Machine Learning for Quantum Information Processing in Hybrid Quantum Systems

    Host: Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany

    Employment conditions/salary: 36 months full-time, 3260.20 EUR/month + family allowance (if applicable)



Selection criteria: Curriculum Vitae, including marks of their BSc and (if it is the case) MSc (35%); Background in the concepts and methods of the project (35%); Declaration of interest and reference letters (15%); Other merits (15%). In case of equal qualifications preference will be given to female candidates and to those of underrepresented groups and less favored countries

 

The following hiring conditions apply:

• All researchers recruited in MLQ must be doctoral candidates (i.e. not already in possession of a doctoral degree at the date of the recruitment).

• Researchers are required to undertake transnational mobility (i.e. move from one country to another) when taking up their appointment. Researchers can be of any nationality.

• Researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the recruiting beneficiary for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before their date of recruitment. Compulsory national service, short stays such as holidays, and time spent as part of a procedure for obtaining refugee status under the Geneva Convention are not taken into account.

• For all recruitment, the eligibility of the researcher will be determined at the date of their first recruitment in the action. Date of Recruitment means the first day of the employment of the researcher for the purposes of the action (i.e. the starting date indicated in the employment contract)
