Job description:
Become part of a highly motivated, international research team in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at KIT. Here, the newest methods of artificial intelligence, bionic inspirations and simulation systems are combined with approaches from robotics to develop innovative, novel machines. The goal is to explore the perception, dynamics, and decision-making capabilities of complex systems. In particular, the multi-body dynamics of complex walking robots and robotic arms will be used together with multimodal machine and environmental data as well as methods from the field of machine learning to enhance the capabilities of modern, real-world robots. In this way, your research at the new Intelligent Machines and Robotics Lab will contribute to improving the autonomy and machine intelligence of future robotic systems.
What you can expect from us:
- Development and practical application of scientific methods and approaches in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics.
- Research on new approaches for dynamic motion of complex robot kinematics, such as walking robots and/or mobile robots
- Development of new machine learning approaches for force-based dynamic assembly, grasping and positioning
- Processing and interpretation of multimodal machine and sensor data
- Co-operation and communication with international project partners
- Development of software components and/or design of software architectures, especially based on ROS/ROS2
- Collaboration in teaching in the area of artificial intelligence and robotics
- Support for personal and professional education and career development
- An enthusiastic, highly motivated mixed team
- Opportunity to do a PhD in an exciting scientific environment
