The Institute of Physiology and Pathophysiology, Department of Physiology seeks to fill a Researcher position requiring a diploma/master's degree (pre-doc), with an earliest start date preferred. The initial term for this position is set at 4 years. Situated within the Center for Medical Research at the JKU, the Institute boasts state-of-the-art research laboratories.
Main scope of the current position is to unravel the Biology of Aging. We are seeking a individual with a passion for exploring the biological complexities of aging and intersection between aging and metabolism. The main projects to be pursued are focused on various aspects of the biology of aging and extending healthspan, including but not limited to cellular metabolic pathways that confer resilience to aging.
The successful candidate can join the JKU Graduate program and earn a phD degree upon successful completion of the training. The candidate will receive high level training and mentoring on the daily basis in scientific methods, project design and presentation, and opportunity to present your findings on international events. Responsibilities include implementing research studies, analyzing data, writing reports, and presenting findings to internal and external research community.
We offer a responsible, varied and independent field of activity in a motivated team, which can be shaped by own ideas and commitment, to advance knowledge on aging biology through rigorous research and evidence-based interventions. The current position includes a teaching commitment of 2 semester hours per week within the medical studies at the medical faculty of JKU.
Job Duties:
- Conducting experimental research projects, including planning, methodological implementation, analysis and interpretation of experimental approaches in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team
- Participation in teaching (lectures, practical courses, supervision of bachelor theses)
- Participation in infrastructural and organizational tasks
Your Qualifications:
- The successful candidate must hold a Diploma/Master’s degree in the field of human medicine, veterinary medicine, biology or a related field
- High motivation in the research area
- Existing methodological experience with strong research skills, including experience with quantitative and/or qualitative methods
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Good written and oral communication skills (knowledge of English (B2) and knowledge of German (B1))
