Management of clincial and pre-clinical data relative to the project on "Non ablative radiotherappy in cardiac arrhythmias: a new paradigm beyonf scar induction"

Stereotactic arrhythmia radioablation (STAR) is an emerging approach for the non-invasive treatment of refractory ventricular tachycardia in structural heart disease patients.
In the present study we will deeply investigate and clarify the myocites molecular and physiological modifications associated with cardiac Radiotherapy (RT). Animal experiments in mice will be conducted performing functional, hystological and molecular analyses. We plan to deeply investigate the early (2 weeks) molecular and functional effects of cardiac RT at two doses (15 and 25 Gy) in the murine model, as well as to provide preliminary advanced functional data of the effects of targeted irradiation on conduction velocity in humans. We plan to perform STAR in at least 4 patients. The research fellowship needs both to coordinate and supervise the units involved in the project and to collect and verify data from both human tratment and animal experiments.
