Offer Description
The Department of Economics and Social Sciences, Institute of Social Ecology is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate.
Extent of employment: 20 hours per week
Duration of employment: 1st of June 2024, limited to 31st of May 2030
Gross monthly salary and pay grade in terms of collective agreement for university staff (payable 14 times per year): B1 lit. b, € 2.376,20
Responsibilities:
- Independent interdisciplinary sustainability research with a focus on sustainable resource use, taking into account climate protection requirements and other sustainability aspects at various scales (e.g. from national to global)
- Collaboration in and management of interdisciplinary research projects
- Independent teaching activities as part of the Master's programme "Climate Change and Societal Transformation"
- Colloboration in administrative and organisational tasks in the institute, department and university
- Participation in expanding the international scientific contacts of the Institute of Social Ecology
Required skills and qualifications:
- Doctorate degree/PhD Social ecology or comparable field
- Language skills: English, German
- Publications in international scientific peer-review journals in the field of interdisciplinary sustainability research focussing on sustainable resource use, taking into account climate protection requirements and other sustainability aspects on different scales (e.g. from national to global)
- Presentations at international conferences with a focus on the above-mentioned research area
- Experience in relevant interdisciplinary research projects in the above-mentioned research area
Desired skills and qualifications:
- Proven methodological expertise in the field of social ecology and industrial ecology, e.g. input-output analysis, economy-wide MEFA, dynamic biophysical modelling
- Experience in university teaching
- Experience in the acquisition and management of third-party funded research projects
- Initiative and commitment to further qualification (e.g. habilitation project or relevant projects)
- Experience with the supervision of qualification theses, e.g. Master's theses
- Good command of English and German (written and spoken)
- Communication skills and ability to work in a team
