Offer Description

We are looking for an Instructional Designer to contribute to the development of an innovative educational program within the i-MESC (Interdisciplinarity in Materials for Energy Storage and Conversion) Master Programme. i-MESC is an internationally recognized Erasmus+ Joint Master programme coordinated by the Université de Picardie Jules Verne, in Amiens, France, and involving 6 partner universities: Université de Toulouse (France), Technical University of Warsaw (Poland), University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), University of the Basque Country (Spain), Drexel University (USA) and Deakin University (Australia).   i-MESC offers a unique 2-year curriculum aiming to prepare and guide, in the most complete and efficient manner, the next generation of professionals to the new challenges of the energy storage and conversion field. It covers scientific and technological knowledge about electrochemical energy storage and conversion devices at multiple scales (from the materials to the devices) as well as advanced characterization and computational tools for their design and optimization. Furthermore, it offers complementary soft skills, such as project management, scientific communication and startup creation.

i-MESC brings to 4 cohorts of 35 international students innovative learning methods based on digital technologies, such as Virtual Reality, Mixed Reality and the Battery Metaverse (a gamified collaborative Virtual Reality environment allowing the students to learn about the batteries manufacturing process and their characterization), in order to maximize the engagement and the learning efficiency of the students of the complex concepts involved in the electrochemical energy storage and conversion field. Instructional Designer Missions We are seeking for an Instructional Designer to accomplish the following missions:

• Contributing to the development of the Battery Metaverse by supporting the software development and pedagogic teams with ideas and recommendations of pedagogic scenarios to implement;

• Contributing to the development of learning supports for practical work with the students, by using traditional multimedia (e.g. educational podcasts and videos), eLearning materials, virtual reality and mixed reality technologies, in gamified scenarios or not, for optimal student’s engagement, stimulation and instruction;

• Design the implementations of these learning tools in the curriculum, to complement the theoretical lectures and the lab practices in an optimal fashion;

• Work closely with the professors to use these learning supports with the students and to collect the professors’ and students’ feedbacks for their improvement;

• Updating and optimizing the contents in the pre-existing learning management systems (e.g. Moodle) and aligning them within the consortium members.

The Instructional Designer will primarily interact with the coordination team (Prof. Alejandro A. Franco, Jamila Tamimy and Julie Bodelu at the Université de Picardie Jules Verne) and the heads of educational teams from the six other partner universities (he/she might be requested to travel for 2 to 3 days several times a year in France and abroad). The Instructional Designer will also ensure connection with other training activities led by Université de Picardie Jules Verne, such as the DESTINY Marie Curie PhD programme, the E-SENSE Graduate School, the Engineers School and High Schools Coordination, in which these innovative learning tools might be also used.
