Faculty 02 Social Sciences, Media and Sport - Institute of Educational Science - Department of "School Development and School Effectiveness Research" at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz
Research assistant
part-time (75 %)
The position is part of the DFG project "School in times of change" in the "Center for School Im-provement and School Effectiveness Research”. The joint project operates at the interface between quantitative school effectiveness and teaching research and research into the history of educa-tion and is headed by Prof Dr Tobias Feldhoff together with Prof Dr Sabine Reh and Prof Dr Eck-hard Klieme from the DIPF | Leibniz Institute for Research and Information in Education. Based on the Three-Country-Study by Fend at the end of the 1970s, the project collected data from the same 24 schools in 2023 using largely identical question-naires and tests. In total, data is available for both measurement dates from around 2000 teachers, 3700 pupils and almost 500 classes. Linking the data from the two surveys should provide infor-mation about the changes in school and teaching cultures and their paths of impact. In addition to historical comparisons, the data can also be used to analyse current issues in school and teaching research on topics such as the impact of teachers' beliefs, maths and English lessons, parental support with homework, student perfor-mance, well-being and learning morale or social inequality. You can find out more about the study here.
Your tasks:
- Active participation in the project (including analysing the data using statistical methods, e.g. multi-level analyses, preparing feedback to schools, documenting the data)

- Publication of project results and presentation at (inter)national conferences.
