University of Wroclaw invites applications for the position of assistant professor at the Department of General Hydrogeology, Institute Geological Sciences, Faculty of Earth Sciences and Environmental Management

The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.

Requirements

  1. Knowledge of the Polish language at a sufficient level to be able to teach in this language (for foreigners confirmed by a certificate at a minimum B2 level).
  2. Knowledge of at least two modern foreign languages at a communicative level, including knowledge of English at a level that allows for teaching in this language.
  3. Doctoral degree in the discipline of Earth and Environmental Sciences obtained in the field of geography or geology (specialisation related to geomorphology or hydrology preferred).
  4. At least 7 years of professional experience in a scientific position in various research or research and teaching institutions, including at least 2 years of professional experience in a foreign institution.
  5. Experience in leading scientific projects financed from national (e.g. NCN) and international funds, including EU projects (e.g. Horizon Program).
  6. Active scientific cooperation with foreign scientific centres.
  7. Scientific achievements in the field of hydrology, crenology, fluvial geomorphology documented by at least 10 scientific publications from the JCR list.
  8. Experience in teaching at a university in Poland and abroad.
  9. Excellent computer skills, including the ability to operating GIS software for working with vector and raster data (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS), knowledge of advanced statistical methods (e.g. ANOVA, PCA) including statistical modelling PMF, ability of hydrological modelling (e.g. SWAT).
  10. Other forms of scientific activity (courses, scholarships).

Responsibilities

In the teaching area

  1. The Candidate is expected to teach classes on hydrological, hydrogeological, and statistical topics.

In the research area

  1. The Candidate is expected to conduct research, scientific development, publish results in JCR-listed journals.
  2. Apply for research funding and establish and maintain cooperation with other research centres at national and international level.

In the organisational area

  1. The Candidate is expected to prepare original programs, courses in the area of scientific interest and teaching activities of the department.
  2. Involvement in the promotion of the fields of study conducted at ING is expected, e.g. lectures for schools.
  3. Active participation in ING scientific meetings, etc.

  6. Self-presentation (information about scientific, organizational, and other achievements).
  7. List scientific publications in the last ten years.
  8. Electronic versions of the two most important publications that the candidate considers representative of his or her scientific achievements or an explanation of the lack of them.
