Offer Description
Project title: Molecular interactions of guidance receptors acting in early cortical Development
Area of knowledge: life sciences Research project: The development of a layered cortex requires tightly regulated cell migration events. These are controlled by context-dependent interactions of cell guidance receptors and their ligands, which occur between migrating cells and their environment. In this project, we focus on different receptors and their ligands, which together form combinatorial interactions that instruct the radial migration of cortical neurons in early cortical development. We will employ a multidisciplinary approach, encompassing cell-based assays, profiling experiments and design of structure-based mutants receptors to target specific protein complexes in vitro and in vivo using mouse models. This is a collaborative project with other labs from the University of Oxford and Bordeaux. The candidate will join Daniel del Toro's lab, which is comprised of four PhD students, and is supported by one technician, along with rotating students. The lab is situated in the Biomedicine Department at the Faculty of Medicine (Campus Clinic) of the University of Barcelona. |
