Offer Description
Maintaining the integrity of our genome is crucial to prevent genetic diseases such as cancer. Defects in DNA and chromatin replication, or in DNA repair pathways, can cause DNA mutations and hamper genome integrity. In this project we aim to define how chromatin organization is maintained during DNA replication and how chromatin dynamics is regulated during DNA repair. We will use a powerful biochemical system, the Xenopus egg extract system, that recapitulates DNA replication and repair using a physiological mechanism. We will use existing, and develop novel, sequencing-based methods to examine the dynamic behaviour of nucleosomes and other key factors during these processes. This unique combination will provide important insights into the pathways that keep our genome safe. The candidate will work in a highly collaborative and ambitious environment, with access to top-class facilities.
Requirements
We are looking for a highly motivated and independent scientist, with a collaborative mindset and experience working in an international team. A background in protein biochemistry or bioinformatics is an advantage. The candidate should have an PhD degree and excellent communication skills in English.
Additional Information
Depending on education and experience the minimum salary is € 3.226 and the maximum salary is € 5.090 gross per month for a full-time appointment (scale 10 cao Nederlandse Universiteiten/KNAW).
