Offer Description

The grant is part of the PRIN 2022 project “PolEmA - Polycentric Empires in Western Asia”, led by Sapienza in collaboration with the University of Turin and the University of Pisa. The research activities include: A) the collection of sources - ancient and modern - for the study of the connectivity between the area of Ctesiphon and the historical regions of Media, Adurbadagan, and Armenia; B) the consequent creation of a digital archive of written sources relating to the areas of interest and digital thematic maps (historical-archaeological) based on the reorganization of the data collected during activity A) or obtained by the members of the Sapienza Unit. The two activities are integrated and pertain to the general objective of reconstructing through textual production and the relevant data, historical-cultural contexts and patterns pertinent to the areas under examination and to the Arsacid and Sasanian periods

Eligibility criteria

Phd in in SSD L-OR/14

Assets:

- In-depth knowledge of the Middle Iranian languages (Middle Persian; Parthian) and their

writing systems.

- Good knowledge of the Neo-Persian language.

- In-depth knowledge of the historical and cultural context of ancient Iran.

- Previous experience in creating digital archives for ancient languages and sources.

- Knowledge of informatic languages for the development of IT platforms.
