YOUR TASKS
The EU-funded ETAIN project aims to explore the impact of radio-frequency (RF) electromagnetic field exposure on planetary health. As part of this project, you’ll play a crucial role in improving our understanding of RF electromagnetic field exposure. Here are the key tasks you’ll be involved in:
- Collaboration and Quantification:
- Work closely with an interdisciplinary team of researchers at Ghent University and other research partners across the EU.
- Quantify exposure to RF electromagnetic fields through a combination of numerical simulations and environmental measurements.
- Communication and Reporting:
- Communicate the results of your simulations and measurements to scientists from diverse backgrounds.
- Report your research findings and project outcomes to both the scientific community and the general public.
- Create and maintain public databases and online tools where project results are accessible to everyone. These will serve as valuable resources for understanding and addressing potential health effects related to RF electromagnetic field exposure.
- Project Organization:
- Organize various tasks within the project, ensuring smooth coordination.
- Ensure timely execution of project tasks, milestones, and deliverables.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We seek a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team within the ETAIN project. As a researcher, you’ll contribute significantly to advancing our understanding of RF electromagnetic field exposure. Here are the qualifications and qualities we value:
Educational Background:
You hold a Master’s degree or a thesis-based doctorate in one of the following fields:
Electrical engineering
Physics engineering
Biomedical engineering
(Applied) Physics
Environmental Sciences
Biology
Epidemiology
Experience and Skills:
While prior experience with the research topic is not mandatory, proficiency in any of the following areas is advantageous:
Numerical simulations
Use of (electromagnetic) measurement instruments
Fieldwork
Scientific project management
A collaborative mindset and a willingness to work with other scientists are essential.
Team Player and Independent Thinker:
You thrive in an international team of researchers with diverse scientific backgrounds.
By taking ownership of your research, you’ll contribute to the project’s success.
Independence in tackling research topics is a key attribute.
Effective Communication:
Strong verbal and written English skills are crucial.
You’ll communicate results to both fellow scientists and the general public.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer you a contract of a definite duration of 2 years.
- Your contract will start on 1/05/2024 at the earliest.
- Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale WM1 to WM4 (if you hold a Master’s degree) or salary scale PD1 to PD4 (if you hold a doctorate). Click here for more information about our salary scales.
